The Biggest Ponzi Scam on the Net!

The Biggest Ponzi Scam on the Net!

Firstly some definitions:-
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/ponzischeme.asp
What is a 'Ponzi Scheme'?
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investing scam promising high rates of return with little risk to investors. The Ponzi scheme generates returns for older investors by acquiring new investors. This is similar to a pyramid scheme in that both are based on using new investors' funds to pay the earlier backers. For both Ponzi schemes and pyramid schemes, eventually there isn't enough money to go around, and the schemes unravel.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/ponzi - a swindle in which a quick return, made up of money from new investors, on an initial investment lures the victim into much bigger risks.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme - A Ponzi scheme (/'p?n.zi/; also a Ponzi game) is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator generates returns for older investors through revenue paid by new investors, rather than from legitimate business activities or profit of financial trading. Operators of Ponzi schemes can be either individuals or corporations, and grab the attention of new investors by offering short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent.
Companies that engage in Ponzi schemes focus all of their energy into attracting new clients to make investments.
Ponzi schemes rely on a constant flow of new investments to continue to provide returns to older investors. When
this flow runs out, the scheme falls apart.
The scheme is named after Charles Ponzi, who became notorious for using the technique in the 1920s. The idea, present in novels (for example, Charles Dickens' 1844 novel Martin Chuzzlewit and 1857 novel Little Dorrit each described such a scheme), was performed in real life by Ponzi, and became well known throughout the United States because of the huge amount of money he took in. Ponzi's original scheme was based on the arbitrage of international reply coupons for postage stamps; however, he soon diverted investors' money to make payments to earlier investors and himself.

I have had other Success Coaches too but I'm only naming these as they've attempted several times to get me to pay in (or "invest" in) Empowr which makes me very suspicious of their motives! I believe they've also been duped and have been told they'll only earn real money by duping others as they are paid a commission from the suckers who pay in and also from what is really sold!
One of the owners appears to be http://profile.empowr.com/Profile/NewCustomProfile.aspx?u=JC&from=appsearch living in San Diego - obviously afraid to use his/her real name!

Is Empowr a scam or Ponzi scheme?
This is what Empowr says about itself:-
The world’s first democratic social platform, where the profits and control of the company belong to you.
Our mission: To empower people by enabling opportunity, hope and influence.
Say something. Every time someone reads it, you earn!
Post a photo. Each time it’s viewed, you earn!
Share a YouTube video. When it’s watched, you earn!
Empowr is working to achieve its long-term goal for 97% of receipts that come into the empowr economy, from any source, to go out to its citizens. The other 3% will be utilized towards the costs of running the company. To be clear, this is a long-term goal that the Empowr community has not yet achieved. Everyone is working diligently to grow the Empowr economy in order to accomplish it.

Empowr used to be known as FanBox and some say that was a scam See https://barenakedscam.com/fanbox

After receiving several invitations, I joined Empowr in June 2016 to see what it was all about. The video training is very good although once I knew more it is somewhat misleading in places. It looked like Empowr could provide a reasonable income if I persevered do I did. The training constantly refers to Listing - auctioning or fixed price selling though it does also stress that sponsoring is also acceptable! I went for sponsoring because from what I knew, EBay or Amazon would be better for selling, though Empowr allows you to sponsor items bought! As you progress you are awarded a colour then stripes and a star to indicate your level in the hierarchy, and at the same time your workload is increased!
I am not yet saying Empowr is a scam though it is looking more and more so, as of course do lots do lots of other Internet money making schemes. I must say however that the Empowr system whilst very complex is the worst system I have had the misfortune to have had to use with all its bugs and glitches. They do claim however that it is "experimental" - don't make me laugh! It is in fact a Wealth Transfer system - taking money where it can from the gullible and filling its own pockets and those of its minions such as Success Coaches!

For those interested, a few tips/pointers:-

1. Post daily as many photos, messages as you are able to
2. Bid on stuff too as the seller should join your circle of trust, increasing your earnings
3. Try also to reach your like/share goal, also note that a "Like" on a List item will generate income for you if sold from your page!
4. List stuff, or at least sponsor
5. Fan people and hopefully they'll reciprocate but try to pick people who are active

"Close the Loop" is what it's all about, or so it is claimed!
Make sure too that you watch the video training though some of it is very misleading!
Here are some more tips given to me by a more experienced "citizen":-
Don't count on just your swiping on the circle of trust, expand your search to make it more
productive. Here are my personal Circle of Trust tips. (They're not official)
The system automatically cycles up people that have recently been active but some of those are just
newly joined and many will ultimately never do anything but to go dormant. I feel like to share with a
basic orange that hasn't posted anything but the two automatic first ones is likely a waste of a
precious share. And just looking at them before moving on is a waste of time too. What I'm saying
here is that I personally don't use the arrow very often for cycling. Instead, I mostly use other
methods of finding people for my circle.

Tip # 1. I think if a person bids on an item then I want them in my circle so they can buy from me
too. So as I'm surfing, I look for sale articles that have quite a few bids. I open up the bids and share
with the bidders.
Tip # 2. Instead of using the arrow, I'll use my notifications instead. This shows me who has bid,
commented or become a fan. In other words, it shows me active Empowr citizens for me to interact
with.
Tip # 3. I use the people I trust page off of the left sidebar. The people I've shared with most often
there have a fairly hefty price tag of shares needed to close the loop so I'll look to see if I can bid on a
cheap item instead. But these trusted people are well worth spending the shares on because they will
be sharing back often and helping you earn.
Tip # 4. When I do use the arrow slider, I don't always spend shares on Basic Orange with no post (or
only one post) but I will become a fan before moving on. Then if they do become more active, they
might see that I'm a fan.
Tip # 5. Go to your news feed page and see what your circle-of-trust mates are sharing and liking. I
found this one only recently but I really like it.
Tip # 6. Whenever I can, try to get the higher power level people to share with me. A like or a
comment from a red, purple, teal or sky is worth more to earnings than an orange, green or blue is.
The higher, the better, but keep sharing with the lower too.
Tip # 7. - Find a blog post with many people commenting, like one of the President's or other posts in
'What's New”. Scroll down the comments and share with people that have open loops there.
Tip # 8 - The loop does NOT have to be open for the share to count. So even if loop is still closed, you can add a couple of likes or comments just to remind your circle of trust mate that you are visiting.
Tip # 9. This is my best tip. Put a star beside the name of people who want to help you earn. These
would include your friends, people closest to you, and maybe even me. See Screenshot

A word of warning - Empowr regularly asks you to "protect your account" - this is a bit of a scam as
they just want access to your credit card or PayPal account so they can "steal" money! Apparently now for some things they can check whether you have at least $30 available - a breach of privacy surely?

As of 16/08/17 my balance is $288,709, revenue $503,683, last 3- day "earnings" $126,567 so
deductions are $204,974! Empowr claims to pay 97% so I have earned them more than $6000 with
the rest at almost $200,000 going elsewhere, probably to higher ranking "citizens"!

I have been on Empowr since June 2016 and have put well over 1,000 hours work.//effort in but up to now and haven't had so much as a brass farthing

From the bullshit spun in the training videos, whilst it does seem reasonable, just doesn't materialize! Being realistic I thought perhaps I would see a return on the time I had invested but oh no! They just move the goal posts as you move up the ladder!
Looks a bit like a Ponzi scheme does it not? In all fairness, I am unsure so far! I asked my "Success Coach" for proof of earnings but so far nothing!
To be fair though Empowr claims to be an economy thus money must be flowing. As regarding earnings they always point to "90 Day Maturity" though this isn't on a rolling 90 days and can be more like 120 days!
Empowr also provide a lot of video training plus they allocate the "citizen" a "Success Coach" who is supposedly there to help with any problems , but this "Success Coach" is paid based on the earnings of those looked after so the motivation may well be questionable!

It looks to me now that the only way to make a decent profit on Empowr is:-
Reach the top - level Sky star
Sell a hell of a lot and regularly achieve the Daily Goals
Be a success coach or other Empowr official!
Live in a Western country such as the US, UK, Australia etc - I am in Thailand and south Asian culture dictates avoid conflict, thus don't complain and I suspect Empowr take advantage of this by giving them less priority!

It may well be one from the above or all four!

If you are interested in trying it see www.empowr.com/JohnAGregory

Since early September Empowr have screwed my account up so that my "Daily Earnings" were reduced by 30-50$ - I first thought it was bugs but now realize it was a deliberate attempt to thwart my reaching "Balance Maturity" thus stopping me from actually receiving any cash!
For the last month or so the "Mission Role" has been active - Empowr clain that by paying up to $99.99 you can increase your workload and double your earnings - what a joke! I see this as extortion - they are holding my account hostage and will release it when I pay - thus the final proof for me that the whole thing is a rather elaborate Ponzi Scam!

These graphs illustrate why I think this:-

Excuses for the quality here! Point A indicates where my account was screwed and point B is where Empowr started demanding people pay for the "Mission Role" scam to basically get the account back to before it was screwed up!

If Empowr cannot prove to me that this is not some sort of Ponzi scam then I will be forced to further promote this blog to the world at large, contact law enforcement worldwide, contact MSM, contact tax authorities etc etc
It has gotten to the stage for me that the only proof I will accepts is hard cash! I don't believe it is unreasonable for me to receive an initial payment of 10% of my balance couple with monthly payments beginning in November 2018 of 1% of my account balance do you? As at writing my account balance is a tad over $600,000!
So Empowr, please act on this OR I will do what I say above! And by the way, it's not just about me either!

Is is such a pity that Empowr see no problem in trying to dupe money out of people who can probably ill afford it by dangling a carrot in front of the donkey so to speak - ie implying they will receive monies if they first put money in! It is becoming more apparent to me that the only people actually making a profit here are:-
  • people regularly selling high volumes - or maybe not?
  • Empowr employees such as Success Coaches etc - they seem to think that as they were duped then it is ok to dupe others?
  • The "owners"

Also, Empowr have what could be the basis of a global platform which would be very attractive to advertisers but up to now I see no steps in monetizing this! Perhaps it's because Empowr has such a bad name in certain quarters that no organization would wish to be tarnished?

It seems to me now that this scam is supported by PayPal, Visa, MasterCard and Amazon AWS (the platform the system runs on) knowingly or unwittingly!

If this blog ends up in my Empowr account being deleted then that would say it all would it not? TRUTH HURTS!

04-09/12/2017
Since I originally wrote this post I have been informed of something rather shocking. Not happy at taking their 10% of a sale it appears that Empowr pocket a lot and in some cases all of the remaining 90% of the revenue from a sale which should of course go directly to the seller. I should have smelled a rat here earlier because although never having sold anything of my own, I have sponsored a hell of a lot and had successful sales but yes, you've guessed it, I've never seen any money!
Thus not happy just sucking money in as a fee for providing absolutely nothing in return, Empowr also steals the sales revenue! Ebay seem perfectly happy with 10% commission on a sale!
I've heard of one "citizen" who should have received more than $2700 from sales but was paid absolutely nothing and was continuously advised by his Success Coach to become a Success Coach himself - thus the Success Coaches are also in on the scam! Being scammed oneself doesn't give one the right to scam others!
I would strongly suggest that anyone who feels they have been duped in this manner to report it to their local Police including the name of their Success Coach!

Another "citizen" told me of the Mission Wheel scam - a bit like Wheel of Fortune! This member won a shopping spree but yes, you've guessed it, no prize was ever received!
This same person also said that Empowr is wrapped in all sorts of legal terms and conditions making them above the law, or so they think! Surely any legal contract/agreement has to be reasonable and not totally one-sided and it seems that these conditions are constantly changing any way more than likely to avoid paying out!

A Utopian Solution?
Wouldn't it be nice if a billionaire philanthropist came along and wrenched the whole system away from the Empowr criminals? So come on Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Richard Branson et al, please do do something I'm sure with some business and financial acumen way beyond me, Empowr could be turned into something far better without the need to screw the "citizen". As aforementioned, it does have the basis for an advertising platform companies would pay good money for, excepting of course its bad reputation!
But perhaps I'm being naive here expecting honesty and fairness?
Empowr recently announced they would soon have their own cyber-currency along the lines of BitCoin thus another avenue to rip people off I'm sure!

Perhaps Empowr should change it's name to Scamelot?

As of 21st March 2017, the following have been informed of all of this:-
  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • PayPal
  • UK Financial Ombudsman - looking into the matter
  • UK Data Protection Agency
  • Amazon AWS
  • Google Playstore
  • FBI IC3
  • Interpol
  • IMF
  • ICO regarding EU GDPR breach
But as yet, no response from any received excepting those mentioned although the "Account Protection" scam whereby the "citizen" gives Empowr unlimited access to their account(s) appears to have gone!
So what should the next action(s) be? Report to the likes of Interpol, contact global media...?
And now, believe it or not, Empowr are launching their own crypto currency which as the state is "utility" to be used internally only. Bidding on this started a couple of months ago and typical Empowr, they expect people to pay what they bid, this being returned they say when the auction has ended thus interest free loans! IMHO, only a gullible fool would buy into this! Also consider that they can't even get the "Close the Loop" system and algorithms to work correctly so can they really be trusted with this? I think NOT!
As of a couple of days ago (12/04/2018) Empowr announced an "Airdrop" of 500 million of their ecoins to "citizens", this being carried around 20/04/2018! IMHO Empowr are are trying to manipulate the Ethereum ETH crypto curreny by saying a "citizen" will only benefit from the "Airdrop" if they have at least 0.1ETH in their MyEthereum wallet so  by suckering the members to buy into ETH by offering "freebies" they hope to push up the price making a lot of monet having already bought "cheap"! Nothing wrong with Ethereum ETH so far as I know! Also bear in mind 0.1ETH is more than $40 and how ill Empowr be able to check whether a citizen has the required amount? This really does stink and is tantamount to fraud!

The only benefit to me from this scam is being able to promote my stuff to others - although I joined hoping to earn a reasonable amount, earning anything is nigh on impossible!

At the end of the day, to plagiarize the bard, William Shakespeare, I will have my pound of flesh and everyone else too!

  1. Empowr has terminated my account suddenly and without any notice. Some citizens probably deserved it but lots of us didn’t. They said they sent me several warnings which is not true. Therefore, it can happen to anyone at any time and for no legitimate reason. As soon as your account is terminated, YOU LOSE EVERYTHING. They owed me too much money and clearly didn’t want to pay for it. This is simultaneously offensive and demeaning! We are shockingly being manipulated and robbed. Empowr is legally scamming people. They give you the impression that you will be making money. When you sign up for Empowr you are given the impression to make $40 by just liking a few posts. “Earnings” don’t mean the same thing on empowr as what we think they are. They can pay you whatever they want to pay you. You earn now, but pay for advertising, fees… The earnings we see at the top of the page are all the positives added together, that’s it. So, when you have earnings from Managed Ad Campaigns (example +$50) these are added to the total earnings but the cost of those Ads which is negative is not deducted from the total earnings. All you get are the positive amounts in your earnings. I created a spreadsheet with the REAL amount and ended up with nothing after all the negatives were taken into consideration. Your earnings are like Monopoly money. Empowr steals money and precious time from honest people. They know that most of us don't have the means to get a lawyer or don't know what to do to make ourselves heard. Most of us are struggling to survive, have health issue or are handicapped... We gave our trust in Empowr and they are taking advantage of it. They threaten and lie to people to terminate their account. Their goal is to keep everyone's mouth shut AND MONEY (nice Democracy)! What a bunch of criminals, telling people all over again in their videos that we never lose money on Empowr... Always taking about visions... What vision ? Rob the little money we have? Stealing from the poor? Shame on them! Empowr is digging its own grave. It’s just a matter of time till everything falls into pieces as it has already happened in the past. Indeed, they already had to change names from Fanbox to Empowr (with a nicer looking user interface, new features, but the same old tricks) because of all the illegal operations, the scamming & bad reviews… And before that it was called SMS.ac.!! Management doesn’t care about the well-being of any of their citizens, just their own paychecks. Empowr can't have a long history of scamming people and lead a company that claims to want to "help eradicate poverty” (Empowr’s goal: To help half the world’s population (4 billion people) to earn an average of $25/day by the year 2025…). They are breaking every law ever written about fraud, theft and embezzlement. How can they get away with what they are doing? They keep on talking about democracy but everybody is being closely watched. We have to go through Facebook or WhatsApp to be able to talk to each other! They play with fear and can decide whenever they feel like it to delete an account. Therefore, nobody could speak to me or help me in the fear to have their account deleted. It’s a cult company. Their culture is toxic, hostile and very intimidating. To disagree in any way with upper management puts you on the chopping block quickly and you know it. Coaches are scrutinized on their behavior and held to the upmost strict guidelines which restrain them from acting like real people or even acting proactively on their citizen’s behalf. They are not allowed to be friends with anyone or have any contact with citizens outside the platform. They are puppets and are expected to act like ones. No one can have an opinion, especially if it's against the platform, even if it's in support of a citizen. They really have no pull, no authority or allowed at all to speak their mind when it comes to citizens issues. They are brainwashed by the supervisory and administrative team.
